When the Pu Family came to Casa Angelina, Jeremias was only 8 months old and was carried in by his mother, Maria, who was 13 years old at the time. His mother, Maria, had suffered sexual abuse at the hands of many men and had become pregnant at the young age of 12. Her family didn’t believe her story, and the day after having a Cesarean operation to birth her baby, she was forced to begin working again in the fields. Working in immense pain and with an infection, she felt like she could not go on and wanted to end her life crossing the highway that day. She remembers standing in the road with Jeremias, only one day old and tied to her back, waiting for the bus to hit her, and testifies of feeling a hand push her out of the way and across the street. She was soon after rescued and sent to Casa Angelina where she started attending school for the first time in her life. She now testifies of the miracle of her and Jeremias’ lives and rejoices for the safety she lives in with her son. Maria and Jeremias are true testaments of God’s faithfulness and love!
