As a young girl, Magdalena was sold by her impoverished parents into a network of child traffickers. She was forced to work in a tortilla shop grinding corn and preparing the dough. She slept on two plastic crates for a bed, woke up at 5am every day for work, and did not go to bed until 10pm. At the time of her rescue, she was just 9 years old but her hands already looked like those of a 90-year-old woman from all the burn scars cooking tortillas. Magdalena was also extremely malnourished and covered in lice. Our staff and clinic have tended to Magdalena’s health and heart with great care. She is a beautiful young girl and loves that she has her very own bed to sleep in and gets to attend school for the very first time. Praise God she was rescued and is being restored!
