Karina is a story of transformation and preparation. She is a deep soul who always had a guarded heart and sharp mouth. She fought to lay down her pain and allowed the Spirit of God to soften and retrain her. She is now joyful, kind and a servant of all.
Karina is currently employed at Casa Angelina while also furthering her studies in English. She is highly intelligent, takes initiative, and is a creative young woman. She is one of our worship leaders at Casa Angelina and God’s hand is on her life. We are excited for all the doors that will open as she continues to learn English and serve God.
When the Masaya Family came to Casa Angelina, they had been living in extreme poverty. Their stepfather was both physically and sexually abusive, and their alcoholic mother worked as a prostitute in Guatemala City. She would often take the children with her to work and leave them alone in a room for hours without food or any provision. They never were able to attend school, and they suffered from extreme malnutrition. Now their lives have completely changed. They are bright students and love all the new possibilities that have opened to them.
