Abigail and her younger brother Josue entered Casa Angelina as victims of abandonment, negligence, and various forms of abuse. Both of their parents were in jail and had been charged and sentenced for extortion and theft. In July 2019, police arrested their parents in a raid, leaving the children with a neighbor. The neighbor decided to give them to a maternal grandmother who physically abused them as well. So then they went to live with an aunt. The aunt wanted them, but her husband did not. One day the aunt’s husband arrived home drunk and was looking for gasoline to set fire to the couch where the children were sleeping. This situation was reported, and it was finally decided that the children were unprotected and in danger. When they arrived at Casa Angelina, they were malnourished and had grown accustomed to begging for food. Our doctors assessed them and assigned them to a diet that would immediately begin to improve their health and well-being.
They are both flourishing now and are beautiful additions to Casa Angelina, and all God is doing here!
