Claudia and her four siblings come from a dysfunctional family. They all have different fathers, and only the three oldest have been registered and have birth certificates. They were living in extreme poverty, the poorest of the poor. Their mother would scour the city dump, looking for things to eat, sell, or trade. This was her only means of being able to provide for herself and her children. It was clear to many that she was failing to provide for them. Neighbors and other people reported the state of her children to the authorities, and they removed them. Claudia, being the oldest, was always left to look after all 5 of them. Ultimately, she had to find her own food and enough for her siblings, as their mother would leave them and be gone for days. The trash that had been discarded, collected in trucks, and dumped was their source of life.
They are extremely grateful to be at Casa Angelina. They can hardly believe it. They have bedrooms, their own bed, delicious meals and snacks, they go to school, play sports, and belong to an impacting church. They have friends, godly influences, people praying for them, and are learning more and more that they are loved.
