Lince Akinyi stays with her mum and her younger sister, Gianna Achieng. Lince’s mother is an active drug user and drinks illicit liquor that is cheap and very common in the Rhonda slum area. Both Lince and her sister were rescued and enrolled at the feeding program through fellow neighbors who are benefiting from the same program. The neighbors realized that both Lince and her sister will miss food for days and due to the negligence of the mum they suffered from malnutrition and lack of a balanced diet.
A few months down the line one can see the change that Lince has undergone, her health has improved, and even though her mother is not able to care for and nature them the center has ensured that she attends school and an assurance of a meal each day. On one of our visits to her home, we found the mum in bed with a bruised right eye and a broken ankle, injuries she sustained from the liquor dens that she goes to. This was evidence enough that the center is playing a huge role in Lince’s life.
We pray for a beautiful future for her and we know God has a big plan for her despite her surroundings.
