Sharon, Genesis, and Alex lived with their mother, a drug addict, and alcoholic. Their father was also a drug addict (he worked as a taxi driver and was murdered shortly after they came to Casa Angelina). Both parents would beat them, yell at them, and neglect them in terrible ways. Eventually, they were taken away from their parents and sent to live with their paternal grandmother. However, while they were with her, they continued receiving physical abuse, and she would mistreat them. The neighbors witnessed the abuse; it was so bad that they reported it to the authorities. A case was made against the entire family, and with nowhere else to go, we were able to step forward and become the intervention of God for their lives. These children smile all day, give amazing hugs, are very intelligent and talented. You would never know that they had struggled for so long under an abusive family; we praise Jesus for their resilience. We are also grateful that they will flourish into their full potential and experience a beautiful life at Casa Angelina.
