Glendy doesn’t remember birthday but is approximately 18 years old. At age 16, Glendy was raped by a man that worked in the fields near her house. She never saw him again, and she had a baby boy, Alvaro, later that year. Her whole family works in the fields making $2.00 a day. She lives with her parents and 5 siblings in extreme poverty. When she came to the clinic for the first time, her baby was near death with pneumonia. Our clinic staff took him to the emergency room at a local hospital where he stayed for 10 days. He has since fully recovered. Glendy has only been to 1st and 2nd grade. She has a dream of studying, graduating, and giving her son a good future.
