Vicenta is a widow we care for who is mute. Everyone in her family has abandoned her except for her brother and his family. They live with Vicenta, along with their three children, in a house made of cornstalks. Rain mixed with wind constantly damage the house. Her brother works in the field earning 35 Quetzals a day (equivalent to about $4.50 US). To help earn money for her family, she begs on the streets. She has many medical problems due to a car accident she was in. Her spine was injured, making it hard for her to walk. She uses two shovels as a walker, and the pressure from walking has turned her feet inward.
Currently, Casa Angelina takes Vicenta food and water regularly and is planning ways to improve her life, such as giving her a new walker.
