MICAELA MORALES

Craig Rains

Micaela and her siblings were rescued and brought to Casa Angelina from a remote village in the mountains of Guatemala. Upon arriving at Casa Angelina, each child was covered in lice and dirt. They were very dirty and had never brushed their teeth or used a toilet. Before coming to Casa Angelina, they lived just to survive. Part of these siblings’ daily lives was to beg for food, although they still often went without. When Micaela’s family was rescued, it was found out that eleven of her brothers and sisters had already passed away due to starvation. Also, none of the Morales family knew how to speak Spanish since they only spoke the Mayan dialect used in the mountains, so they each had to learn how to speak, write, and read in Spanish, and now they are perfectly fluent. Micaela and her siblings have changed so much since coming to Casa Angelina, as now they are filled with love, laughter, kindness, and a sense of security. Since coming to Casa Angelina, Micaela has made so many friends and lives each day with joy as she goes to school, learns, plays, grows, matures, and seeks God.
